WILLIAM FITZHERBERT - Archbishop of York

The parish of St. William of York was established on July 1, 1914, by James Cardinal Gibbons, the Archbishop of Baltimore. On December 27, 1914, Cardinal gibbons assisted by Bishop J. Shahan, who was a founder and third rector of the Catholic University of America, dedicated the church. Father Pasquale di Paola, the first pastor, and many Jesuit and diocesan priests attended.

We aspire to be a more vibrant and thriving parish community that builds God’s Kingdom by bringing love, justice, and mercy to the world.  We commit ourselves to be (in the words of St. Teresa of Avila) "the eyes through which Christ’s compassion looks out on the world . . . . the feet with which He is to go about doing good . . . . and the hands with which He is to bless us now."

Come Holy Spirit,
Guide St. Agnes and St. William parishes in our efforts to work and worship together. Reveal to us Your plan for our parish families. Increase our love for You and Your Catholic Church. Give us wisdom to know how to best use our parish facilities and resources. Give us zeal to share our Catholic Faith with our neighbors and to bring them into our parish family. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
